My Experience of Teaching Reiki to Septuagenarians

The last two days I had a humbling experience of teaching Reiki for two sisters of age 77 and 67 years. They came from far away place, stayed with me and my family to learn Reiki !!

They were curious to know what is meant by healing and what is Reiki all about, how will it be useful for me at that age. One of things that struck me with these girls was the curiosity hared to find in students who are always with mobile phone!. Also the zeal and zest to learn and apply the learning in there in their This approach and need that oldies have was what struck me and made teach them Reiki more customized, more practical and less theory, I gave an opportunity for me to truly implement Androgogy methodology pedagogy in Reiki teaching. Along the teaching below are few of my learning too……

One of the issues , I wouldn’t say challenge well it is was Future pacing for these two ladies.

For octogenarians of this time, in a phase of their lives general concept is at old age they are handicapped due to physical debilities, loss of mates if married, society has retirement so they are no more in service they feel they no more wanted

Also fast paced world, they have forgotten one thing , to take care and keep them updated of the changes in the world.

So they feel despite desire live and contribute to the world death is an option . Some time u will find this age kids angry, lost depressed or with drawn.

As I understood these, I started noticing few of these symptoms in my parents too.

Felt very guilty , that they who took care of me in my formative years without a wink of an eye, today when in their need why did take some much time to recognize their needs.

Its jus that I was lost in my world in my own issues. I jus reality used that along with me moving forward I have to hold their hands and help them move forward.

In this endeavor I can say I have succeeded in 30 ℅ for my parents. The same way I was able to set clear paths for those two ladies. I bid them aideu home with tears in my eyes like a parent sending her children to the kindergarten worried how they are going to fare and how this big world is going to treat them …………….

Guess what I slept really well, woke up refreshed having done the right thing in my life and having clarity to be kind, aware to include my parents and oldies too in my zest for life, bring smiles on those wrinkled faces, tears while hugging while they were parting and above all giving them feeling of wanted and Loved.
