Patience Is Key

Patience is the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset. This is something that most of us have trouble with. We live in a society where things are instantly given to us by a tap of a finger. Being told to wait for something means that you have to have faith to go along with your patience. The saying “good things come to those who wait” is very true.

For an impatient person their mood is very shifty. They don’t get something when they want it to be given they often throw temper tantrums and start to become demanding. Believe me gaining patience is far from easy. From my experience I used to be the most impatient person. But, if you complain about not having something at the time you want it, it’ll never come. Most times when impatient people finally get what they’ve been wanting they’re still upset because they didn’t get it the time they wanted it.

If you find yourself feeling anxious about something try to take your mind off of it and focus on something else in particular. Whatever you put your focus on will expand. Let’s say you’re in traffic on your way home from work and you’re really irritated. Try to focus on how many billboards you see on the highway as you’re driving by. It’ll take your focus off of the traffic and will get put you a bit more at ease. Through the process of patience you will go through a few obstacles to get what you’re wanting. In this process, you can’t get upset and impatient. Instead of criticizing the obstacles think of them as stepping stones to get where you want to be. The journey that we go through to get what we want is what we’ll remember the most. On the other hand, if you’re anxious and anticipating everything and always saying “when will it be my time” you’ll always be disappointed in your results.

If something doesn’t go as planned don’t treat it as a bad thing. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get that job that you’ve always wanted. Or if you don’t get 1st place in that race you’ve always wanted to win. If you accept your loses and understand that there’s always another bigger and better opportunity down the road not only will this build your patience but it will also build character. Be more patient today !
