Inspiration for growth

Having realised how much a spark of inspiration can push us forward, I’ve decided to start this blog as a way of relating to people who want to get better at something. It is easy to feel stuck if one loses sight of what is accomplishable. When in need of inspiration, we can always turn to people’s experiences as a means of encouragement: the best professional blogs I’ve read and the most inspirational people I’ve encountered have one thing in common — they are all honest about their journeys.

JOURNEY AS INSPIRATION

For me, nature and horses have always been a powerful driving force behind most of my dreams and decisions. For you, it might be something else, which I would gladly see you share in the comments. Although the blog will largely focus on adventures in the world of horses, it welcomes travellers from all areas of life to connect and engage with its ideas and perspectives.

I have been doing horseback riding for about 10 years, and I am still as passionate about it as I was on the very first day. Even more so, as I’ve since become the owner of several horses who proved to be the best teachers a person can possibly have. However, after so many years of doing the thing I love, I found myself wondering about my goals and achievements. I am not a professional, and yet I’ve accumulated experience that now makes me a much different person and horsewoman than I was at the start of my journey. What am I doing here?

As a born and bred perfectionist, I used to have trouble accepting that anything less than established professionalism is worth serious consideration. I often felt that one can get quality advice only from people who have impeccable credentials. Eventually, I grew to realise that believing you cannot amount to anything unless you are a paragon of success is not a good start for developing the much-needed confidence for growth.

EFFORT AS PRINCIPLE

What I’ve realised is that professionalism requires a level of sacrifice not everyone can or even wants to take on. It also depends on one’s circumstances just how much they have to forego to get where they want to be. Please keep that in mind whenever you feel discouraged by the belief that you have no ‘talent’ — your circumstances and your EFFORT are things that do most of the magic; ‘talent’ is a very debatable term.

I would even go as far as to say that effort matters more than the long-term goal itself. Goals are guidelines. Although we have a general sense of direction, we never know exactly where we will end up, so we might as well enjoy both the joys and the pains of the process that gets us on our way.

And that is why I am here.

I love writing. I love riding. I love many things I didn’t use to display freely for fear they might not be good enough. So, in order to push the boundaries of my comfort zone, I’ve decided to take up writing about my journey in hope that, along the way, I would inspire someone else to take a step forward too.
