Digging Through the Bones Writing Prompt

A poem

With every new day, it seems
that certain qualities ought to be
more worth mastering, like agility.

Because there is something about
being flexible enough to
round those corners before
the car flips, tips, or hits a wall
and also not to feel so small.

With every new day, it seems
that certain qualities ought to be
more worth testing, like stick-to-itiveness.

Because even after you climb
a mountain, you still need to know
when to turn around, or pause
once you learn what’s underground
without letting it make you feel so small.

But with agility and stick-to-itiveness
you must work steadfastly to know
which is which, or what is what
and which one is meant to outlast the other
as you feel it in your bones, (you know)
you just need to learn the difference between
sticking it out and letting it all go to grow.
